spoke to Renault Uk about the state of my steering wheel in the fact that it is falling apart quite badly, Got an email from them this morning saying that they agree it shouldnt be falling apart after 40k but I will need to take it to the local dealer to let them see the wheel.

Gonna take it up in 20 mins to the local stealers - where i bet they hit me with the wear and tear crap

Good luck, let us know how you get on. My steering wheel was in VGC when I sold my 182, and I wear rings (which wore the numbers off the gearknob!), so there's no way it should fall apart.

They have agreed to change the wheel, They are now just waiting on RenaultUK to fax over autherisation to change the wheel for me

LOL did tell him that it was a common fault, they have a 02 plate 172 in the showroom which they fitted a brand new steering wheel too cause the last one was fooked so he already knew

i just contacted complaints dept was dealing with a Simone Hagan, She basically just told me that i had to speak to the dealership but agrees that this shouldnt happen.

Spoke to the manager at the dealership and told him i had put a complaint into RenaultUK about the state of the steering wheel and that under The sales and supply of goods act i wanted my wheel replaced. Guy just looked at me blankly and done bring it in on monday and we will do it then claim it off Renault Uk lol

worth it mate, just hit them with the sales and supply act cause technically you could claim off renault for selling a car with a faulty part and at a guess most managers in the dealerships wont have a clue what your talking about and agree to do it, going up to a different dealership with my mate tommorow to he trys and gets his changed on his 182

went to renault this morning to be told the service manager was in a meeting, Great i thought. guy behind desk says whats the problem so i told him about my complaint to renault uk about the steering wheel etc and that i had spoken to the sales manager who told me to come in today to confirm the wheel will be changed under renaults "good will" policy. The guy takes the regi plate and the name of the person i was dealing with at Renault uk and says what il need to do is call them to confirm it. I said fine but obv being a english bank holiday they were closed. Guy says he will get a engineer to have a look at the wheel and take it from there. He disappears and comes back two minutes later and says "Engineer doesnt want to see it, theres been so many complaints about it he knows what it will be like". I laughed quite hard at this point. Service desk guy says fine what il do is order the part today and book the car in for you then make the claim against renault.

End result - Car goes in on thursday morning at 8am to have the new wheel fitted
