Wobbly gear stick

Is there any adjustment or a bush or anything else I can do to stop my stick wobbling?
It's side to side movement NOT front to back! So a dogbone mount won't help.
If I get under the car and grab the linkage it's really lose and sloppy,is that normal?

Same here.

Eg if I'm driving in third the stick has loads of play left to right but not forward and back.

It's annoying, theres so much slack in the linkage under the car.

Then in short: there is a conversion kit for the OEM gear linkage. It can reduce the backlash of the linkage. Consists of 3 main parts: fixed ball joint housing, stiffer ball insert, metal bush:
