wooo hoooo!!! 1.2 16v PROBLEM!!

  H22A7 Accord Type R

great stuff!!! 24,000 miles of fault-less motoring (almost), driving to work this morning, music on low, stuck in traffic, look at dash to see the WWW electrical warning light on!!! Service light on....and the rev counter non too happy!!! the car wouldnt hold any solid RPM, and idle was dying.....quickly! I Pulled into an entrance to a yard, where is eventually cut out! Re-started it, same......if you hold the accelerator at a constant level, the revs are all over the place!! Brilliant! switched it off once again, for a few mins while i tried to find the AA card......oh sh*te! where is it?? Normally found in my Wallet. Bugger! Started car back up, all fault lights cleared.......? nursed it to work. What a bummer! its about to cost me a bomb on insurance, and it does this? Now thats a confidence boost ;) I know people have had problems with this kinda thing before so fire away.......fecking wee pile of electronically controlled French so and so!

My car did this, i restarted it and its been fine ever since! I did phone up Renault and all they said is bring it in next time if it happens again, lets hope next time it doesnt happen on the M25!

yeah thats what i was thinking Rob. Tenner says if i took it in they wouldnt find anything!!! HAHA, see how it goes......and i think i better look for the AA card tonight!! LOL

Mines sitting safely in the glovebox!!

Thing is, shouldnt there be a log in the ECU of it? Thats what i was thinking..and theyd be able to check it, but then again no one seems to know anything at my dealership..

Mine did this recently and on the way to work. Called the RAC and it turned out to be one of the coils. SMC Renault in woking couldnt fit me in so I got the genuine renault coil from German, Swedish and French for £48 and fitted it myself. Job done.

coils?? interesting. Still under warranty n e way, if it goes again, im straight off to the dealer! see how it goes on the way home tonight

  Ultra Red Megane R26

Yeah, there is one coil per cylinder. When the RAC guy removed it (one bolt and gentle pull!) there was an obvious burn mark where the high voltage had burned through the coil casing and was shorting on the cylinder head. Common fault apparently according to him, however I found no trace of anyone having a similare problem here!

ah rite, thanks buddy. Looks like its going to Renault soon...............gave it a good drive on the way home, after going quite quickly down the mad mile (a Lambo Gallardo passe me the other way!! MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!) i came to a standstill, elecrical fault light came on, stalls! Brill! never mind, gonna go find my AA card, and boot the sh*t out it now and see how it goes. Crap! lol

  Ultra Red Megane R26

No probs. Id take it easy though matey, you dont want more problems! I hope you get it sorted soon. I know how you feel though, I crapped my pants when it happened, 30,000 miles trouble free then that.

had a good spin tonight, up the m62, came off at Saddleworth, took a nice back road to halifax, car still makes me smile......................boy it can go round corners!! Hopefully she will get all fixed up. She didnt cut out or give any lights during my treck either :) Trip into reno required

Them coils are a pain in the but have changed hundreds of them.

The computer in your car will store any fault codes in its memory, so dont let reno tell you they found nothing wrong.

As the fault light came on it will be a stored fault.

Make sure they sort it for you.

thanks Mike, im gonna request it in writing any fault they find, just incase somethings happens as warranty runs on this time next year ;) I aint wanting no automated response lol................no fault found sir .......... i had the electrical warning light on once AGES ag, mentioned it at the service, i was told they couldnt find anything? Are they lying then??? Interesting! I shall send the car in with a letter to accompany it too me thinks! Thanks again Mike

mine had the same problem but would only happen when starting from cold. Took it in to have its first service 18k and advised them of the problem. went to pick the car up and was told it was a faulty injector which was making the car stall and rev indcorrectly. but its all sorted now all they did was update the ecu and it works fine

Cheers lightning..........!! its been ok yesterday and today touch wood..............gonna get it logged with Reno tho :) pop down Saturday n demand someone looks at it lol
