Workshop lighting

Hi guys.

I’m looking for a good workshop light that I can use everywhere. Something bright, and gives a good amount of light.

Uses... under the car, engine bay, interior etc.
Perks... maybe magnetic, battery pack rechargeable etc.

What do you recommend?

I use a mains powered led flood light as they are cheap and powerful

I have LED strip lights on the roof and the walls to fill the room with light. You can then get more portable units to go on the floor or hang in the engine

I have a Milwaukee work light which runs off the same batteries as my impact guns and drills.

It's not magnetic but it does have hooks to attach it to most things.

Might be worth looking at something like that if you have similar cordless tools?

ive just had a new shed built round the side of my house and purchased 3 of the below to put in it.

really impressed with them, 800LM for £12!!

very small, so could be good for a work light

I’ll be putting new lighting into the unit later in the year, but I do need a handheld/magnetic led unit for the inspection stuff.

I would highly recommend these for unit lighting

just put 3 in my new workshop and they are ace, 2500 lums each. I got mine when led hut had a sale at 50% off, so £20 each, which is an amazing price for what you get. also dimmable

they also do a 45w version which is 3600 lums
no warm up time like tubes and no cold start issues like tubes

I be one very similar to that at work. It's very bright and gives a hood spread of light too. I can't tell you what rating it is though because the sticker has worn off. Shoukd be fine fit under the car.

I’ll be purchasing 6 or so LED lighting strips for the ceiling as I’ve got quite a large space and id need 12 of those above

Yes I have 2 of them mounted to the roof of my garage. There really good for the money!!

I also have some rechargeable Elwis lights which have a few different mounting options like a bonnet bar (which is again mounted to the roof) small stand, 6 feet stand and really strong magnet

Having daylight colour is a huge difference over 4300k lights.

After reading a few of the reviews on this £10 rechargeable Unit, I put an offer in...

Yes it’s a cheap item and probably coming from China, but as an inspection light, I’m hoping it’ll get into the tight places.

I’ll be buying an LED light from screwfix later and then I’ll be looking to purchase the LED tubular ceiling lights a little later in the year

Those strip lights you’ve got, does the wiring enter the fitting at the ends or through the back like a typical strip light. Some of the LED lights I’ve seen have the cable coming out the end, I want concealed wiring. Cheers

I’ve just fitted these LED lights from screwfix.

Really pleased with them. Currently on 13a plugs using an extension lead from the house lol, as I’m in the middle of getting electric to the garage

That’s the ones. Can wire it at either ends and link multi lights together for ease

@Short Legs sorry for taking ages to do this. They are the daylight ones so 6000k, totally worth it over the bluer colours a lot of lights seem to be. I can work on the car day or night and there's no difference. Serious bits of kit. Connection has a length of wire which I ran into those junction boxes. Tried to take a photo but the exposure was a tad difficult.
