If you've got a dicky earth, it could cause an issue.
I had an old Nova and the gearbox earth was shot. The car ran when I jumped it but indicating would turn the head lights on and using the wipers would sound the horn.
i had a scenario where a renault espace, when it was jump started the dashboard stopped working (electronic dash) . disconnected the battery and reconnected was fine after that.
a bit of info i have learnt about jump starting :
on some cars jump starting can cause a spike in some circuits, it is adivised to put the earth on the body/engine and not the terminal.
there are also some cars which have alot of electrics on board and is advised to swiitch the headlights on to prevent spiking and blowing ecus which is possible because ive seen it done . the sudden load of current to a dead car causes it to blow.
