Would changing speakers help

Ok will i get an improved soung quality if i changed my 120watt 6X9s to some more powerfull like 400watt? They are run off the 4X45 watt headunit or is the unit not powerful enough?

If you want an instant boost in speaker volume, but the ones that have the greatest sensitivity.

I doubt you would hear much difference by fitting higher powered speakers.

Put simply yes (and no)

If you play 5 watts through a 10w speaker it will sound okay

if you play 5 watts through a 500w speaker it will sound better.

but your amps also introduce distortion and the diffence is minimal until you start reaching the limits of the speakers wattage handling abilities.
