as on another thread i posted my car broke down yesterday they are saying it timing belt has sliped they are changig the belt n looking to see if any things bee bent my friend dosent think my valvs will have been bent but thinks my pistons will have but say on a realy bad note care could not be fixed ( i know thats highly unlikly} but would perrys give me my money back that i paid for it as its got warrenty

It all depends how long you have owned it to be honest. I think companies are only legally required to offer full refunds up to 14 days after purchase? Might be wrong not sure.

most good garages offer three month waranties on major mechanical faults, i took out the extended two year cover just to be sure, not sure how they go on though if the belt was overdue it's change, they might wriggle out that way saying it should have been done as per renaults mileage/time scale period.

ok cheers my warranty says extended warranty expiry mileage unlimited clam limit unlimited so does that mean they have to fix my car no matter what the cost

it does still depend on the smallprint which they don't always give you until you claim, best thing would be to contact them and explain the situation and see if they will cover all or just part of the claim.

ok thanx well theyv started taking bits off enging as far as i know n are replacing belt not given me any thing on paper with small print on it lol iv got warranty doc at home and theyv given me a kurtisy car free of charge as cars been in before just looking at my warranty cant see any small print at all

My warranty letter didn't say anything either except that they confirm my warranty was in place, whatever that means!.....but i do know they have limits as to what they will pay out on, some won't pay out on suspension parts because they say it's wear and tear......things like that, once you have contacted them they will tell you for sure but i would imagine something as big as a cambelt problem they would probably have to pay out on.

If they do find damaged valves, I'd be tempted to ask to see the engine with the head off 'cos if they have nicked the pistons quite deeply, they may be tempted to ignore it.
I'm not trying to scare monger, it's just that they are paying, so won't want a huge bill.

thanx guys they are now saying tension broke causing my belt to slip so now are deciding what to do repair existing engin or replace
