Imagine the state it must have been in though, In 09 it was probably worth nearly 10k so to write it off the insurance must have thought it was going to cost around that to repair.

Thats what im thinking... Id like to see the pics of it before repair...

A car can be re-shelled into a brand new shell but is still classed as a write off apparently..

White seems to command a premium, so it must of been a lot of damage to write it off at a year old, when it was worth maybe £13/14k?

If you buy it you need to keep it, cant imagine it would be easy to sell on.

Is it actualy possible to get a cat b back on the road legally I know their only surpose to be used for spare parts but is their not some test thing that can he done to deem them road worthy again?

Colour doesn't really come into valuing cars until the customer isn't happy with the settlement. Then they have to prove it's value.

Cat B is pretty bad. If it had been re-shelled you would hope they would mention that in the advert as it's a good selling point.

I know I wouldn't want to go near that. It won't be safely repaired. I guarantee that much.

Vic and Rac checks Don't check the quality of repair work. They are checking the identity mostly and the mechanical side of things.

I might give him a message see if he has any pictures of the damage or whatever... If its been re-shelled i might consider it tbh

The fact its a Cat B doesnt really bother me, any problems I can easily sort myself.. If i was to buy it I would just run it till it died or if I got bored id just break for parts..

Il probably just pay a little extra and get a straight one..

I think like that, tempting but would rather pay that bit extra for a hpi clear one.

no way, not for £4.5k.

If it was like £2.5/£3k and i was just using it as a track car then yeh. Does he have photos of the damage etc?

Id just look for a straight one

I wouldnt pay 4.5k for it no way.. I wouldnt mind using it as a daily, Once the mrs goes back to Uni it will only be used at the weekend to get me to newcastle.. even then that wont be every weekend as il occasionally get the train or she'l come home..

As has been said, cat b is pretty bad, but it could just have been alot of body work.

Take a new bumper for my 2002 honda, £700 ish new from honda. So whatever happened it wouldnt have been cheap.

Id get some pics if you can of the damage, if hes legit he should have some really.

Yeah, my guess would be though its probably been on its roof..

There are plenty of other meggys for £4.5k but the fact its white and rare is luring me... Il give him a message se if he has pics of the damage, if he hasnt got any il pass and look for a straight one..
