Would you buy this Williams if you had the opportunity?

  Discounted 1*2 parts
Got the opportunity to purchase a Williams 2 for less than £500. Its not in the best condition but a couple of bits would see it perfect again.

Considering purchasing it and making a track weapon out of it (to save the 200 on track) or get it tidied up and flog it on?

Not really got anywhere to store the car other than at a mates garage. And also another deciding factor will be a second lot of tax and insurance if i track it.

If the work required wasn't too bad then probablay.

But then I've never owned one and is one of those cars I'd quite like to expereince for a short period of time anyway.

Nope. Too old now. Look good from some angles, from others they make the Titanic look mint.

Even at £500, with your track record of boredom, I wouldn't bother. Add insurance, tax and maintenance, you're better off just using the 200.

seen a few of these going cheap at the mo and they do rot bad from what i can see infact i was going to get one a few months back that was around £800 but i asked him to get a new mot done and it turned out it wanted a crap load of welding doing and lots of other bits so i walked away.As a track toy well maybe but you could pick up something newer for less if you look around

Put it this way, i paid £1800 for mine, and spent about 2k on it. Looks mint, sold it for £2400..."A couple of bits will see it perfect" is a bold claim. Half the stuff i replaced broke after i bought it!...

2 of my neighbour have willys and everytime i walk by i think "Amazing i love it!" but my ownership experience left my with a bitter aftertaste of them! Shame really.

In short. No. Don't.

The Mk1 Clio's don't seem that well built in respect to corrosion protection. I went to look at a Clio a few years ago for my daughter. As soon as I opened the bonnet it was obvious the front subframe was on its last legs and generally it was looking tatty under the bonnet. In comparison to my 172 which is coming up for 11 years old and the only rust on it is the bonnet which was an issue with them anyway due to them being badly finished after they dropped using alloy bonnets.
