x5 is the best kit too, has metal ballast units.

10000k has the blue/purple tint. what is the 8000k colour like?

Am interested in this too, quite fancy this and wondered how they install can't seem to find any online instructions for them.

here you can see my old kit fitted on my mates astra..

the ballast is fitted to the inner wing (red box behind battery) and then the wires go from that through the rubber dust seal (we just pierced a hole through it) some wiring to the bulb, and the connector that plugs in the standard wiring connector plug that usually clips in the bulbs.

took us about 30 mins to fit them.

oops pic

8000k is diamond white.. its a really bright white/blue.

10000k is real blue.

the only useable light is white light so kinda defeats the point..

standard halogens are about 2000k i think (yellow)

already posted a couple of pics of the 8000k kit colour in the other thread so look there.

fitting is a piece of piece..
ballast unit you fit in the engine bay behind the headlight with the mounts provided or mega strong double sticky pads..

then you have two wiring looms coming out of it.

one goes to the standard H7 fitment plug that usually connects on the back of the bulb.
the other goes to your HID bulb that fits in the normal h7 lamp holder.

youve asked all these questions before in the past couple of days and they were answered then.

so will the kit that i have mentioned on that site definatly fit to my clio?easy to fit?

The mk2 clios require a fair bit of modification. I did this conversion a long while ago.

Due to Renaults wonderfull bulb holding design, u need to grind down the metal tabs on the holder. (deff a dremel job)

Also you need the bumper off to fit, no way in hell you will do it with it on.

Dont forget to tell ur insurance company, just in case they decide to catch fire LOL seen 4 of these go up in flames when turned on :quiet:

^^ was the X5 charge packs.

Its quite common for them to go up :S
Seems to be when they turn on, some packs dont take it very well.

X5 make most of the kits, branded by others too but they all come from X5.

Ill get some shots up later regarding the MK2 problems, the bulb holder is the most stupid design ever!

BTW - once u cut the metal tabs off you will never get the origionals back in

Renault only sell them as complete headlights!

You can buy them yes.

You will need

2x 172/182 Headlamps Shells
2x Charge Packs
2x Ballasts
2x Bulbs

This wont allow you to have the auto leveling.

But will give you the HID conversion.

cheers Has,would this be the safer option?would this all more or less fit straight on when removing my old units?where would i get these from and how much u reckon it wud cost?

As Daz has said they are pricy!

expect to pay around £4/500 second hand

new from Renault you are looking at about £1000

They would fit straight on with a bit of adjustment. Leaving you with ur old headlamps intact. The only thing you wont have is the headlamp washers or the Auto leveling.

** Note, insurance class this as a modification to the cars safety specification **

I had to get the lights checked by an MOT station and a note saying they are road legal before they would cover them. As i wouldnt want to loose out if someone smaked me! or they blew up settign my baby alight lol
