So I put Battlefield Bad Company 2 on yesterday, it got to the title screen, then the 360 turned itself off. I looked down and noticed the 3 red rings were flashing. Hmm. As I'd already suffered one fatality and this was an Elite system, I decided to punch the fcuker - which I did. I then turned it off and back on. It's since been working fine and no signs of the RROD.
Could this have just been a one off? Maybe a power surge? Or should I be preparing a funeral for a viking (Viking in this case being an XB360 Elite)? I've already priced up a Jasper model without a hard-drive, as I can just swap them over, but @ £120 I'd much rather keep this one. Wondering whether others have had the RROD and then it's been fine after switching off and on again? I remember my original 360 had the 3 rings and it wouldn't do anything afterwards, so I bought this Elite system and sent the other back to Microsoft, which they repaired in a week and I sold it on.
Like I say, it's the first time it's happened since I bought it a year or two ago, and after the smack it's been tip top.
