XB360 RRO... something.

So I put Battlefield Bad Company 2 on yesterday, it got to the title screen, then the 360 turned itself off. I looked down and noticed the 3 red rings were flashing. Hmm. As I'd already suffered one fatality and this was an Elite system, I decided to punch the fcuker - which I did. I then turned it off and back on. It's since been working fine and no signs of the RROD.
Could this have just been a one off? Maybe a power surge? Or should I be preparing a funeral for a viking (Viking in this case being an XB360 Elite)? I've already priced up a Jasper model without a hard-drive, as I can just swap them over, but @ £120 I'd much rather keep this one. Wondering whether others have had the RROD and then it's been fine after switching off and on again? I remember my original 360 had the 3 rings and it wouldn't do anything afterwards, so I bought this Elite system and sent the other back to Microsoft, which they repaired in a week and I sold it on.

Like I say, it's the first time it's happened since I bought it a year or two ago, and after the smack it's been tip top.

The day I got mine I knocked it over like a tard and it came up with red lights. Error code on screen suggested it was a drive fault and it's never caused any problems in about 6 months

It's Scutchio, mate.

I do fancy a bit of Jasper, TBH. But will soldier on with this one for the time being. Loving Battlefield, and really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption.

Nice one fella...I'll give you a shout when I go on next...usually 10 or 10.30 onwards tbh

Chris

I had my first one for a good 3/4 years and then sold it on and its still going iirc, never had any probs.

Fingers crossed yours holds on

Mine for the RROD over a month ago. The other day I thought "f**k it" and wrapped it in towels whilst it was on, left it on for 30 mins (making it overheat stupid amounts). Then let it cool for 15 mins powered off.

It's been working ever since.

After i bought mine back in november 08, i got the 3 red lights in January! 3 month after buying it! So, i arranged it to be picked up blah blah, went to gym since i couldnt play xbox! Came home, tried it out of luck, and it worked :approve: cancelled the collection with microsoft, and its worked fine ever sinced :D

Send it to me if it does it again il fix it :D iv just finished repairing my mates

I think the Jasper could well be on the way. Playing BC2 again last night, and I re-spawned and was running round but being blocked off by nothing, as if I was in an invisible box. Blocks of the screen were flashing white, too.

Meh.

I fixed my brothers ipod by dropping it on the floor from a height ;)

To be fair Scutch you have been rinsing BC2 - which is no criticism btw;)

Can you not ring microsoft up? After the hassle of the early 360s i thought the guarantee was longer now? I may be totally wrong of course :o

It will be fixed free of charge, yes. That's not an issue. Trouble is, I'm an impatient sod. So I'll get the Jasper, then sell the repaired Elite.
