Xenon auto levelling?

Car  2003 Clio 172
Hey,

Just thought i would check...

I was wondering how sensitive the auto levelling system of these headlights is?

I know in our BMW, if you so much as fart by the car and knock it off level, the lights adjust immediately and constantly.

SO tonight i went out and hiked the car in reverse on the handbrake causing the front to dip alot, the lights didnt move. I also tried this in first causing the rear to squat and the lights didnt move at all.....

The lights in the BMW buzz up and down for a second once you start it yet the ones in the clio dont do the same.

I guess i just need to know what to expect from the light auto levelling and what is normal behaviour before i order ANOTHER bit form Reno

Cheers
Jinj

Umm....because it didnt change the level one bit when i made the car shift angle and the lights were on....

I just pulled up the drive and thought id never noticed it when on other cars I had...

There's a sensor on the rear axle, and I think it only levels if you've got a crap load of stuff in the boot. It's by no means as intelligent as a system in a BMW...

I got a new sensor for mine and it was like £3... I've tried to make mine level before, out of curiosity, but I can't seem to do it.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

I've never notcied mine move in either my 182 or 172. As long as they switch on and light up the road i wouln't worry.

Just another frog box thing then........lol...........thanks for the responses anyway chaps....

My lights are aimed far to low... how would i go about adjusting them?? Is there a manual adjuster on the back of the lights?

There is yes, it's a white plastic allen bolt that you need to turn. Do it with the ignition on too, otherwise they will 'self home' the next time you start the car.

My rear 'sensor/switch' is broke but it still passed the mot so i'm not too fussed. Does it matter? Aslong as I can see ahead I'm happy, well actually if they are both working i'm pretty happy lol

Rare for you, eh? :rasp:

Oh and no, the leveller wont be checked come MOT time. So long as the beam is correct they'll be fine.

Just don't put any fat mates in the back ;)
