XENON Failure!!!! Help! I need my headlights!

  Mazda Mx5 + Clio 172
OH NO! Driving home from work tonight, and randomly as Im going along, the headlights suddenly went out! Sidelights and rear lights were however still working fine! Pulled over and turned off the engine, fired back up, still no headlights (sides, rear and f/beam all fine) just the bloody xenons not working. Overrode the auto lights feature and put on the front fogs so i was displaying some form of front light and carried on (not much choice!), bumped a pot hole and the xenons came on again for about 20 secs then went off. :-( very very peculiar! Had to call at shop, and when i set back off again xenons came on again! For all of a minute...... then dead again! What the hell can be happening? If they had gone off and stayed off I would have assumed it was a fuse? But as they flicked back on again anyone think it could be more serious? :( Seems like a dodgy connection or something to me, but not being very knowledgable on the world of xenons i could be wrong? Anybody got any clues/thoughts/theorys.... its just a pain in the arse cos working tommorow and no idea where to take it where they will have the first clue how to sort it!
any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Cheers guys

Think this happned before to someone on here and simple fix was a loose connection which is under the passenger side dash I think. Go have a fiddle around!

Under the dash as in having to take it off :-s or just under the dash as in in the foot well lol! Will have a look, maybe someone has caught it with there foot or something and pulled it loose?

Pretty sure you don't need to take anything off, just stick your head under and see if you can see any connections

Look up under the dash from the passenger footwell. The UCH is up there with the relays plugged into it.
