Xenon Problem

  Sport 172
Evening all,

Not sure if this is in the right section. Just needing some help with one of mi Xenons on a FF 172.

Basically the silver holder that holds all the xenon, side light etc that is in the light unit has come loose and it rattling around. From looking at it I can see that it clips on to two white storks that are in the light unit.

First question is how on earch do I get it clipped back onto the white storks so it's stitting straight? I have tried all afternoon but I just can't pull it onto to the white stalks.

Secondly I have put the light back on the car now for the night as I've had enough. I turned on the light to make sure it still works and it does but now there is like a mechanical sound coming from the light unit constantly. Like it's trying to do something. Is this because it's not sat on the white storks properly. Apologies for the long post.

Any help would be great.

thanks

Sounds like the bumper will have to come off and the mechanical noise is probaly the ballast trying to adjust maybe ? I wouldnt let water into it though.

sounds like its popped out of its mounting points/pivot points............some people have said they fixed this and some said they couldnt..........mechanical noise could be the adjustment motor trying to adjust the headlight but it cant because its not attached....

Yeah it's deffo come off it's pivot points. I've tried to pull it back onto the points but I just can't grip it enough to pull it hard enough. I can't get my hands in there enough. Anyone any ideas how to sort this.

Yeah I was thinking the same about that noise. It does sound like it's trying to adjust it but with it not being attached it's not moving anything.

Another reason why I have to get the light unit clipped back on is that the MOT is due soon and the light isn't going to be aimed right so it's going to fail.
