Xp validation help.

I've got 2 computers, both have valid serials keys, why does it say they are not valid when i try use them to validate windows?

Not using the orginal copy windows to install from.

you dont need the original disc. I downloaded my vista and used a valid key with no problems

This is xp, i have a copy of xp home, just it's not the one that was used to install it orginally. For some reason when i come to validate it won't

is it an xp home key?

as i had downloaded vista ultimate and tried home premium key, which wouldnt work.

Yeah xp home key, and xp home cd, i can download xp from the micrsoft website?

You have installed it with an XP Retail/Volume Licence CD but your trying to use the OEM key that your PC came with I would have thought!? That wont work, to use an OEM key that came with a Dell or whatever you will need a Dell OEM install CD.
