You can diagnose car electrical problems with this!

  Renault Clio 197
I've just picked up on this little beauty.

Basically it plugs into your OBD 2 socket, you pair it with your smartphone via bluetooth that you've installed the free app on, and you can get a read out of any problems there are with your car and best of all you can actually clear the fault!
It costs $99 and postage is free if your prepared to wait 3-4 weeks.
I'll get one and see how it goes.

Just the generic ones over on ebay etc :) Probably not as good, but I hear Renault in general (or the Clios), often bring up codes which most of the generic readers do not understand/cannot read.

I would drop that original idea, it's expensive and probably find you will be paying import duties when it arrives from the States too.
Most(all?) generic OBD2 readers will only diagnose engine related problems on the Clio.
