As i emailed you ben, no problem paying full price, any cheaper will just be a bonus.
So anything around £180 will be good
I had been emailing ben re the group buy, and him mentioning it probably wasnt going to go ahead due to costs etc, hence my above post, stating i was happy to pay full price, but anything cheaper would be a bonus.

Seen as Ben has gone AWOL, im not too concerned about treading on peoples toes (ive been watching this thread for a couple of weeks, and its going no-where).

Anyone want to step forward to arrange this?
in what way?? iv never even seen one off the car, so what are they matched with?? are all the ports exactly the same throughout the whole tract?
used to be one of the easist mods to do on me old minis. bin the std mani, whack an lcb on with seperate inlet and match the head/mani ports up to the holes in the mani gasket. little bit of grinding the chambers helped a lot too. and cuttin the valve guides back. head had to b off for this tho. but was only a 30 min swap lol.
same principal.

no its not "fukkin rocket science", but if youve never done one before, or didnt have a full idea about what your trying to do, then you could easily mess it up completely and make the manifolds US.
Aside from that, cost of buying tools to do it:
die grinder--£30-40 (this is based on poor quality tools which ultimately effect the finnish of the material being worked, hence why people doing it for a living, such as myself, spend good money on die grinders)
consumables:
tungsten carbide burr--£20
abbrasive bands--£40
so your looking at around the £100 mark if you havnt already got the BASIC tooling. And this is assuming youve got a compressed air supply, workbench, vice etc.
So really its not fukkin rocket science to see that for the extra £30 you may aswell leave it in the hands of someone who has done them before.
but for a £100 outlay......its also not rocket science to figure out after that, youv saved urself £30 straight off the bat, and then also have the oppertunity to make £130 profit for evry other 1 u do.....

For those still interested in a group-buy after Xmas/New-Year I am going to run with Jam-sport as they have the best price and cheaper deposits so cheaper for everyone all-round.

i was thinking about this Jon, as i have a spare mani, but lining them up i cant see how id get it right lol
so i would be in too, though not seen any of jamsports work,not doubting jamies as he def knows his stuff
AWT and AP are both good with proven track records on here so thats always good
i had some old mani studs for the minis that filled the bolt holes in the gasket. so as to get it centralised proper. then jus colour in the bits to take out with perm marker, get the old drill n grindin bits out n away u go. same for the head, altho the chambers were only done to eye, and the valve guides taken out flush with the ports. tis more a take a bit off have a feel rather than take it all out n regret it lol.

I'm a little suprised by this topic.... surely if somebody is asking for names for a group buy, they would have actually contacted the company they were buying from before announcing a group buy?
Did the person arranging, or suggesting this, not think to ask Ben first and get his permission and also get prices from him if he was happy to go ahead with this?

by the way, I've got matched inlets by Angelworks.... can I tell the difference? i'm not sure to be honest... what I do know is that my MPG went up after they were fitted :approve:
I've also got a panel air filter, exhaust, cams and re-map... so it's hard to tell what gains are down to the inlets, it certainly pulls harder and has more torque though

There was a lot of interest in having thse done upon another dscussion on a thread a few weeks ago. So I decided to find out who would be interested in the group-buy, AWT where chosen and contacted as they had run the last GB for inlets
(Such details are on the 1st post if you read it :slap
All this went on while Ben was off on holidays, now it has come to a temporary halt lol (Pending results from a 172 having these done with a before & after RR)

What planet are you on mate honestly? Half the folk on here dont even know the difference between a Plenum and a Inlet let alone port the thing!
Would end up being the 'chain saw massacre' of inlets with then knock on effect group buys for stock inlets and new limbs lol

Yeah we had spoke to Ben and he said to get names for a group buy, now we have the names and he cant be reached
Plus he also said earlier in this thread that he wasnt sure if he was going to it because it wasnt worth it for the money he was charging.
