Looked like a nice 200 RS cup, had a good ding dong with it in the VX220 - he had his other half in though ... who looked pretty mortified when we stopped at the lights, he prob got a bollocking! Gave each other a mutual thumbs up though!
Good point about the MPS - they have so much kit as standard. The new version just comes into the 225g/km class for tax too! Not quite the performance of a Foucs RS I wouldn't have thought .. 256bhp and 380Nm rather than 300bhp and 440Nm, quite a difference. Think the old MPS is a bit heavier...
It is such a nice looking car, it's a shame they don't do a fast version yet - anyone know if there are any in the pipeline?
Diesel performance is usually quite good in normal real world driving - e.g. accelerating at speed without having to drop down gears etc. There are lots of benefits to...
Mine runs ok on 95 ron, can't really tell the difference - it should have knock sensors to r****d ignition accordingly anyway? CR of 11:1 should be ok for 95 anyway, golf gti's etc have a high CR and turbo boost to contend with and they can run on 95, so unless you've got a higher than standard...
You can get fast efficient diesels though. I had a remapped 120d with somewhere around the 200bhp mark and it never did less than 52 mpg, up to 60. It was fast but still wasn't as fun as good petrol engine, it made up for that partly with sideways action on tap though!!!
My Clio does 36-40mpg...
Ah right - am arguing for you then! I've never managed more than £54 in the Clio, that's quite a few miles after the range gauge goes blank! Fuel was a bit cheaper when I was using that last though would probably be about £58-£60 now I think
You're right there. Wife has a vectra 1.8 vvt which I'm hard pushed to equal the mpg of the clio or vx220 in! It will do but have to be much more careful!
Cheers for that mate, yeah it's a shame about the wheels. Seem like hens teeth the 15's though. So it's about the right price then considering non standard wheels.
Recaro - what you paid isn't bad if it's mint though. As I said, I paid £2100 a year ago but I'd sold my other car so needed a car...
Cheers, have put it back on ebay last night starting £0.99 with a reserve of £1199 stating just mileage, tax & test good condition etc. People can ask the questions if they're interested. Last chance, otherwise am definitely keeping it lol!
Nick, sounds like you've got a great bargain there...
Cheers 197 and Daveski - sounds like you found a good un there. I agree and have pretty much illuded to it above. I don't have evidence of the cambelt change but if someone is that bothered about it, they can get it done for peace of mind. Not many cars do have evidence of having belts changed...
Hopefully this doesn't sound like a rant, just trying to put things in perspective ... it's an 11 year old hot hatch and it's for peanuts really!
In my opinion the engine age doesn't really matter. It can't actually be much older than the original engine, so any newer is a bonus which is the...
Thanks Setone. Good to know I've got it at about the right price. It's been on pistonheads for quite a while, month and half buy at 1500. Was also on eBay for a week but only been on here for a few days.
Cheers Nick. Actually the guy that came yesterday text me back today and reckoned it was worth the money and would be ok for 95% of buyers but he was only put off by the exhaust as he does quite a long commute. It's not loud but louder than standard as is a non genuine part. How many phase 1's...
Can somebody give me a realistic indication of what this is worth so I can weigh up whether there's any point in selling it?
I thought £1250 was more than fair, have had a bit of interest but not as much as I thought it would attract. When people come to see the car they expect it to be...

Just trying it one last time at £1250, am loathed to sell at that but could do with the cash I suppose. If it doesn't go for that I'll be keeping it as my winter car though!
If you have any questions ask away.
Cheers
Nick
Saw a very very pretty blonde lady in a black 182 on the M18 yesterday, big exhausts, some white writing on the side - looked v cool unlike me in my 308 diesel hire car!
Well, unfortunately the Clio has to make way now for my new toy - VX220. I don't really want to sell it, I was going to use it through the winter but don't think it'll do it the world of good sat outside for 6 months at a time so figured it's best to sell while it's still got some MOT and Tax on...

I hate these threads and the 2 cars are, as people have said, quite different but I'll put my 2p in as I am thinking of going the other way, to a Focus ST.
I've only test driven the ST and found it to have really accurate steering, and good body control & obviously grip. Being able to choose...
