If it is the rear light connections then just clean them up, takes a few minutes to do each side. Just put a little bit of sandpaper or such over the end of a terminal screwdriver an give them a scrub. I sprayed a little bit of battery terminal protector spray on just for good measure and...

When the engines ticking over an I'm sat in the car I can hear a faint tapping noise from the engine bay, I can't hear the same noise lifting the bonnet? Not much to go off I know but does anyone have any ideas what it could be or if it's even worth worrying about

Had this issue with previous cars, soldered the 172 ones as soon as I had it. No problems since, just make sure you disconnect the battery before you begin :)

I would choose the cup over a ff personally, not bothered about any of the so called 'toys'.
