New gearknob needed - whats a nice one to get?

Car  182 Cup, DC2, E500
My writing font has worn away! A replacement from Renault is about £62.

Does anyone use an aftermarket gearknob that look nice, feels good and isn't too much of a pain to fit?

Cheers

Rez

Ph1 looks like my short shift, but the reverse lift mech isn't metal, so they don't rattle. The actual knob is a metal ball.

Don't think you'll be able to get one new anymore, I might be wrong though. Best looking for a used complete Ph1 gearstick and refurbing the knob.

This perfection buisness isn't cheap or easy is it?! lol

Ph1 Gear Knob ftw!!

Can get them new from Renault but I think they are about £80. They pop up on here occasionally for around £40-£50 so that's probably your best bet.

Definitely the one to go for though :)

Deffo phase 1 gear knob.

Is it simple to change to a PH1 knob on a PH2?

Would you need to change the stick? or can you just hack the ph2 one off and re-thread the stick to suit?

Easier to just buy a second-hand one that comes with the full assembly. It's a PITA to get the ph2 one off from what i've heard!

2 options here:

1. Buy a second one with stick and replace hole unit - may need refurbing though (scratches).

2. Buy brand new - cut old one off and then araldite this one on (they are not threaded).

Sweet. Do the sticks just unbolt? Never had the gaiter off so im not sure what to expect haha! I presume a PH1 stick would fit fine?

Need to take the unit out from underneath.

1. Remove exhaust catalyst.
2. Remove exhaust heat shield.
3. Unclip the gear knob gaitor.
4. Undo the 4 x 13mm nuts from the gear knob housing to the chassis.
5. Slide the hole unit down and out from underneath the car.
6. Refit is reversal of above.

Yeah, it's just four nuts and one bolt for the assembly mate, nice and easy to do.

Edit - beat me to it mossy!

A lot of agg for a gearknob!

I hate to say this, but I guess a quiet and subtle Momo it may well be.....

Cheers for that :)
