Evening all, how goes it? :stig:

Just wondering what people wanted to do for the next meet? A few have asked me if we'll be having a drive up to Builth wells/Rhayader this year...which I'm more than happy to sort out.

So what to do next?
Anyone down for a days driving, stop for some grub and pics? Get a few videos up on the black mountains?
Karting? Track day? Valeting meet? Random day out paint-balling or something?

Get your ideas in below.

A decent drive out sounds good to me... Take a pack-up and/or snacks to munch on during break/pic stops and then include a decent meal at a pub/cafe at some point along the route (or even as a nice way to finish the day/drive). If my car is running then I'll be there :)

I don't think paint-balling (or similar events) will work though in all fairness. There just doesn't seem to be the interest any more. Everyone likes the idea and goes along with it but, when push comes to shove, getting the numbers and monies is like getting blood from a stone. As a result I think it's probably easier to just stick with car-related events / meets.

Back on the subject of drives... this is something I really enjoy but one thing I've found is that people don't always share the same idea of what 'going for a drive' actually means. I know folks who think that a drive means a quick blast to a local well-known area for a quick chat and that's it. That's fair enough, but I think of a drive as jumping in the car and making a day of it. Or even a couple of days. Jumping in the car, covering a few hundred miles. Even jumping on the Chunnel and heading over into Continental Europe for a jolly!

Another thing I've found is that a lot of folks are reluctant to cross the Severn or venture further afield. This is a shame as some of the best drives I've had with my own car club have been seaside runs to places like Lyme Regis or chilled drives through the Cotswolds. There's no reason why we have to limit ourselves to just south Wales just because that happens to be where we based :)

If my car is running then I'll be there
Then the only way we'll ever meet you is if you bring the Honda! :tongueout:

I also agree with you, I'm not sure paint-balling and things like that will work however the first karting session was a lot of fun inspite of me being s**t lol. It's a shame there was little interest in the 2nd one however I'd be up for trying it again.

Personally the best days out I've had as part of CS have been ones that were planned about a month in advance and there has been route with a map. That way it gives nobody any reason to question it and they can budget whether they can afford the fuel or not. The biggest problem with meets like karting/paintballing will always be commitment and getting people to cough up.
Meeting for a 'drive' often means the numbers are often greater than expected as someone always brings a mate.
Personally I prefer something that starts early and we can then see some scenery and get some miles in, quick meets in a car park just don't do it for me and they're just cop magnets.

This year a few friends and I are looking to go on the Chunnel and explore some scenery, ending up at the 'Ring. Folks from CS are welcome to come along as I'm desperate for ideas!

@SharkyUK you know me chap, I'm more than up for a trek over to the English side of the bridge.
I accidentally stumbled across some lovely roads up Malvern way last year when having a lend of a friends M3 so that's always a possibility. (Damn that was a good day!)

I'd prefer to stick to car based
Meets (track days, karting, drive outs, valeting meets, photoshoots and of course convoys to bigger meets like CS Saturday etc.)
I'm just trying to get an idea of what everyone's up for, as setting up meets does take a fair deal of time and planning....I don't want to be planning meets just to have the interest fizzle out again like February's.

@msremmert the ring would be a good trip/meet to do but realistically I don't think people would be able to afford it. The insurance cost for a lap of the ring is chuffing insane. Also the cost of making sure cars are up to standard, petrol, hotels etc....for most members I think it would be a bit far pushed.

@Jaff. @182Trophy @Alex-J @LiquidYellDan @MJRacing @Dano' @Matt W @Hodgins @M4D M4X

What say you?

Thanks for tag.
Andy summed it up in his post to be fair.... I'm happy to cross the bridge, I cross it twice a week in mine going to Kent and back![emoji14]....... Just please, nowhere along the M4.... I'm sick of it! [emoji5]

I'd like to do karting again but getting people to commit seems a pain.

A trackday would be great but the dates don't always suit everyone so may be awkward? Most are weekday events which means time off work etc for people.

A real good drive sounds good! And probably the safest bet for a good turn out.
An all day drive somewhere.
I'd possibly be up for a sat and Sunday job. No more than that though. New house and lack of holidays restrict me.

Now have 8 alloys and 12 tyres for the clio, so could do with burning some rubber [emoji41]

Yeah I'm keen, had a good meet around the Malvern area with another club a few years back, drive around, few photos then stop for lunch in a nice country pub sat in the sunshine in a beer garden.

I think the 2nd karting meet was poorly timed tbh. It wasn't long after the first and all money was due in in January which is historically a tight month for most. So I'm sure if another one was planned you'd get a better response.

As for meets. I may be interested when the Meg is ready, so that's anybody's guess. Not keen on taking the focus along for some reason

  Focus st3 & t5.1 day
I'm happy to go for a blast, anywhere with in reason!

any opportunity for some driving fun, bit of pub grub and some photos I'm game, just need a heads up on when so I can save up some petrol monies!

Easy to spend £100 on Vpower without even trying lol

8 alloys? Greedy dogg!
I'm still looking for a set to replace my turinis.

To be fair Andy did get it right, but I still would appreciate everyone's input.

Track day wise, if we could get enough interest then Llandow is cheap enough to hire out for a day.

@Jaff. You may well be right about the second karting meet. We'll give it a go another time considering we still have the discount offer from Supakart.

Seeing as the majority are open to a days driving (sounds grand to me)
How about we make a proper day or weekend of it somewhere?

Have my standard 182 and tyres. Bought track tyres and looked to by wheels only.... a good set of F1s with tyres came up so ended up buying them.

Llandow would be brilliant. Its cheap, fairly local and relaxed. I'm sure other CS members from further afield would attend too to bump up numbers.

Yeah, in itching for a good drive. Bored of motorways now!
Maybe a drive up north Wales. I dunno. I'm sure someone will come up with a great drive.

Ooooh. Now that's a superb idea!!! [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji41]

Definitely sounds good.

We did that last year chap, just you caught the end of it....think it was the day we had a pick up truck try and keep up through those lanes!

I've got a route planned through Abergavenny, Brecon, Llandovery, Black Mountains, Rhayader, Elan Valley to Aberystwyth. Enough scenery to make you think your in Mordor and some truly epic roads.

That's the one I suggested for you to drag the north wales members down for to you @RyanWXM
We had a cracking time last time and it's pretty much in the middle.

Hahaha must of been :stig: behind the wheel.

That meet last year wasn't a combined one but I'm hoping future ones will be.

P.S sell me your F1's ;)
Ah right.

I'll sell you the original center caps from the f1s if you like? I have 2 of them [emoji14]

Not the alloys though [emoji41]
I haven't even put them on yet to see what their like! Itching to though. Maybe this weekend.

Just saw south central are doing a Wales drive later this year. We could join with theirs too.

Just tried finding a thread about the South Central drive to wales and can't find it, drop a tag on it for me chap or link it on here.

I'll cut you a deal, I'll give you another two centre caps for the wheels and then you can sell me the wheels. Sorted!

I don't know if there is a thread for it yet. They have one planned for later in the year.

Saw it mentioned in sharky project thread.

Ha ha. Sounds a good deal [emoji41]
The South Central one isn't a 'meet' really Dan / Filters. It's a driving holiday for a few friends from down that way. I helped sort them out a route last year and they enjoyed it and decided to do similar again. I was in the Clio V6 last year so I'm hoping to be in my Trophy this time around... fingers crossed. As such, it's not been advertised purely due to the fact it's a driving holiday for a few mates rather than a meet :)

Don't worry mate. As said in my thread, you'd be welcome to join us if you like

Driving holiday? You checked to make sure they're not just pikeys mate?

On a serious note we will get a drive in soon. I'm also looking at getting a track day booked up for September at llandow if there's enough interest.

I think if you sorted a good days driving you can pull in some members from worcs/midlands area and the south west bristol/somerset.
Maybe we in return could sort out a days driving down here around Exmoor
