5 years or 72,000 miles, whichever is soonest.

You have done 30,000 miles, which is less than 72,000. So it does not need to be done based on mileage.

2009 was 7 years ago, which is longer than 5 years. So it does need to be done based on age.

"Whichever is soonest" means whichever milestone is reached first. It does not mean you can pick which milestone to put it off for another few years. Rubber deteriorates over time. Think about when bicycle tyres go hard and crack when they're left in the shed over winter.

The cambelt needs to be changed 2 years ago!
This is what I couldn't understand. The second I read the first post I thought "uh f**k" it needs changing I'll just scroll down to make sure the poor chap knows. Everybody's already TOLD him (PHTEEEVENNN) so I didn't bother lol.

GET IT DONE NOW lol.

Get it done tomorrow, I shudder to think what state the aux belt is in,
Don't take it to your local garage either if they dont f**k it and cost you an engine the timing will be out and it will be down a out 30bhp, take it to a specialist.
Oh yeah and dont expect change out of 600 quid.

Mine was overdue when I finally got it to Mick @ Diamond. He says I was pretty lucky as when he showed me the old cam belt, you could see cracks all along it!
