Does yours not have them?

Turn the mirror adjuster to the 6 o'clock position and they'll fold in if you have them.

But op was making out like they folded in and out when he opened/locked the car?
Nope, think mine can only twist to left and right position. Let me look.

I never knew this? Is it a select few/option as I'm sure my 200 hasn't got it?

i know that you have to turn it to the white dot position for the mirrors to fold manually but it has a function for the mirrors to close automatically when the car is locked with the key card.
The automatic closing of the door mirrors worked fine until the battery was changed, there is probably a certain procedure of turns of the mirror knob to reset the feature.
The automatic folding mirrors were a optional extra when the car was new and i have contacted two renault dealers who did not even know that the folding mirror were available on my 197 and Renault Uk also has no idea, and all handbooks that came with the car contain no information so any useful help to solve this issue would be appreciated or i will have to brush up on my french so i can speak to the Renault Sport Factory in Dieppe !!
