Clio 172 PH1 no spark

  Clio 172 Phase 1
Hi everyone, I've recently acquired a 172 phase 1 with no spark. I've searched through the forum at the many threads on the subject but cannot find a fault similar to what I have, I would be grateful for any help/advice. The immobiliser light flashes quickly when you turn the key but it will go out if you hold the button on the key and switch off then on again, the fuel pump primes and I get 12V at pin 3 on the coil for a second when the key is turned. I've got a good signal from the crank sensor(checked with oscilloscope) but no spark when cranking and no feed to the coil. I've cleaned all the relay contacts and associated wiring including checking for continuity on all relevant management sensors but still no spark. Can anyone test the ecu? This is the only component I cannot test and I suspect where the fault lies. Also when cranking the engine the battery and STOP lights flash.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Paul.

is battery good? check main loom earth on the gearbox, check the key fob itself and take it from there.

fast flashing is key not recognised, few things it could be, very rare to have a faulty ecu.

lock the car, unlock it, switch ignition on, leave for a minute, switch ignition off, close door, lock car, unlock car, switch ignition on, leave it for a second or two and see if it starts.

can't remember if it runs through the uch but think it's to the ecu, not in work so can't check sorry.

Update to this! Had the car plugged in to Clip and got the following codes DF014 coded line circuit, DF271 actuator relay output voltage and DF009 actuator relay control circuit. I replaced the engine bay loom with a known working one and swapped relays around but still no spark. I then removed the UCH unit and it has what appears to be water damage to the circuit board, does anyone on here test/repair these? Part No. is P8200031557.

Well it runs, sort of. Pin 39 on the engine ECU is not switching to earth thus not switching the engine relay and powering up the coil. If I earth the green wire to the relay(Pin 39) it starts. Is this a known fault on the ECU on these and where is the best place for a repair or is this something that I could do at home?

I had this problem with a P2. Happened with both keys so I figured it was immobiliser. Looked for broken wires etc changed crank sensor, no fix. Turned out both keys were dodgy however I fixed them by resoldering all the joints on all the components on the circuit board — just touching each joint with a soldering iron until the solder melted, then let cool.

I have a Phase 1 172 which has a fairly large black 3 pin relay under the dash/centre console (in the centre somewhere, can't remember exactly as I moved mine) which I believe is linked to the immobiliser system. Have you checked this? I have only ever seen it fitted on Phase 1.

This is something new I wasn't aware of, all the other wiring in the engine bay has been gone through with a fine tooth comb. Any pics to show the relay location?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I am having problems uploading a picture. However the relay was located at the front of the HVAC assembly behind the climate control panel (if I remember correctly, as I said I've moved mine). The relay is a black 3 pin with a grey connector, similar in size to an old flasher relay. My MK1 is a 2001 (Y reg), I hope this helps.

@DanDan172 i came a cross this thread and wondered if I might be having a similar issue. Do you mean to say there is a relay in behind this part of the dash?
