Another of those impulse buys.

An only school friend had owned this for 6 years, he mentioned maybe selling it and I thought why not.

Spec wise is has two important features:
A Turbo
New wings, cills and rear quarters

I’ll let you know more as I find it out...

Yes I know I should have strapped the front too, but I forgot the other two straps like a r****d and the car was 3 hours away!

Brilliant cars and even better with the 200+ most run with a turbo. Looks very clean! Mariner blue is definitely the best colour for these too.

Love it, Assume it’s a decent modern turbo set up and not a slap dash effort?. The available kits seem to be much better in the last 5 yrs, wonder how it compares to your previous boosted 5

Its not perfect, but it'll do.

Only has a 2.25" exhaust from the turbo back, it would be far better with a 3". Might do that and a bigger turbo and some rods. 300bhp would be a nice number.

Whats been done to the engine? Forged internals or stock?
Is it the 1.6 or 1.8?

Stock 1.6
TD04 Turbo
480cc injectors
MS2 Ecu
280lb/ft rated clutch

Nothing fancy.

I'd be tempted to put a Holset HE221on it, some 750cc injectors, chinese rods and keep upping the boost till the clutch slips.

Holding 250lb/ft to the limiter would give about 330bhp.

mint, the one I have is a total shitter but great fun (very early mk2 1.8) even in bone stock form

I'm shifting it on later this year then may sniff about for a boosted one in good nick, do you mind sharing how much you paid (pm if that works) so I know what ball park I'm swinging in if I mooch about for one

You've seen Compressor Racing have the HE211W and HE221W for sale currently?
The 211 should spool a touch quicker and make the power you need.

Do like those (genuine?)
I quite like the orange tow eye, goes with the corner reflectors!

Oh s**t.

No they aren’t RFP1’s, sack putting £1k wheels on this.

They are Ultralite F1’s. Which are about 0.2kg heavier than a RFP1 and probs not as strong.

Ultralites seem to be hated with the JDM lot. No one seems to understand they’ve been making wheels in England for 50 years!

Fair enough, I wouldn’t be spending £1k on wheels that might end up in the gravel. I’d assumed they were cheap Chinese stuff but they don’t sound like a bad option to be honest. Everyday’s a school day!

Get that hardtop back on! Soft top 🤢

OEM lip, wee Vindi (is he still about?) and a colour coded hardtop would look beaut.

Can never go wrong with RPF1s or a rep

No hard top is ever scrap, people still buy knackered ones for decent money.

This thing is fantastic. Using it as a daily atm.

Little things I've done.

Moved the clutch pedal downwards so its more comfortable.
Rebuilt the shifting mechanism in the gearbox
Tidies some of the wiring.

Some amber side repeaters came today so I'll get those on it.
Just need to take all the extra gauges out from the inside now.

Just waiting on the paint, so I can re paint the engine bay.

Also do a single din cubby hole to replace the horrid switch panel.

Trying to find a subtle bluetooth headunit too to replace the horrid sony thing.

Amber side repeaters fitted and the interior has had all the gauges and random switches removed bar the AFR gauge.

I properly love this thing. Esp now with the new Pioneer head unit which uses the iPhone as its screen. Really neat ideal, integrates maps and hands free too.

For sale as I’ve not really done much with it. Drove it today though and was awesome!
