Cracked RS192 centre box

  Clio
Hi,

My Clio has an RS192 fitted which appears dated 07-12 (presuming that means 2012). The centre silencer box has fractured where there are pipe support stays and also where the pipe enters into the silencer box.

A couple of weeks ago I emailed RS192 via the website email address and have yet to get a reply. There is no telephone number shown on their website. As a short term repair I am going to try welding the stainless box to get a bit more life out of it, but I have the following queries:

Is RS192 still trading?

Are the revised centre silencer boxes with flexi pipe still being manufactured?

If the answer is no to either, does anyone know of another pipe which can be fitted to replace the broken silencer box?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks - is that not also a decat pipe according to the RS192 website?

I would like to retain the cat to save hassle come MOT and for the car to not flag up warning lights.

Thanks,

Louis

No, this will line up with the OEM cat just fine. Just will be louder as you're removing the centre silencer.

TBH, you'd be better just going to an exhaust shop and getting a flexi welded in. Shouldn't cost anymore than £100 and can get them to have it all sitting correctly/sealed whilst they're at it.

Hi,

I will investigate local exhaust shop options. Does the centre silencer do a lot on these exhaust systems?

Thanks,

Hi,

I have managed to find out that they will supply the revised silencer separately but am struggling to speak with them via email (I e no replies). Does anyone have a telephone number for them as they don't list one on the website?

Thanks,

They dont give out numbers.
I'd say you are best using a local exhaust place to repair it. It will be quicker and less painful

I personally think these engines need a centre silencer unless you want to be noticed. A sporty sound does not have to give nose bleeds

I'd go to an exhaust place and get it sorted there. I had the same problem and replaced the centre with the new version with a flexi. The flexi they use is crap and not strong enough and was done in a couple ot years. I needed a new cat and the local powerflow place replaced all from centre box to manifold with shiny parts.

Hi,

Yes the cat is in place and I plan to keep it.

I have asked my local good mechanic and also local car specialist and neither are aware of any good local exhaust specialists that can work with stainless.

I am based in the north eastern part of Greater Manchester (near Oldham and Rochdale). Are there any reputable businesses in that region who might be able to repair what I have?

Thanks,

Might be cheaper to buy direct from scorpion.
Ive had the non res centre and its too loud for me.

My old Scorpion 192 with decat and non res centre section was too loud for my old ears! Hence I bought the resonated centre section which I then didn’t bother fitting as I had a hissy fit with the car and bought another one

RS192 are still trading - I was speaking to them recently.

The email on their website is an old one (absolute mongs) apparently they don't check it too often.

Honestly their individual parts prices aren't great. This is the email address that worked for me, had several emails from her.

I would just google Powerflow, Longlife or one of the other many alternatives to see which is in your area and get them to repair the box you have.

Hi,

Thank you for the help, I found a local place in Rochdale who have replaced the centre box with what looks like a clam shell item. Car appears to run okay and does not appear to have any obvious reduction in performance (thinking of potential gas restriction?).

Thanks,
