Works in the same way as a network switch. Just it provides power to cameras and network via the switch

Diagrams to show.

Essentially you then don't use the NVR for the POE side but rely on the switch and then all cameras are on your standard network and all is happier.

Plus helps on longer runs of over 100m of cable, if it came to it.

What i would do its run 2 cat5/6 from router to PoE switch, then patch leads from PoE switch to the cameras. NVR plug into the Router directly (LAN/WAN Port). Avoids having 8x cables all plugged into the NVR and mess really.
That makes sense to me, thanks for explaining.

I may have the nvr in the loft, am I right in thinking that would then negate having the poe switch?

But if I have the nvr in the living room/study then you'd suggest a switch? Cheers again dude

Next is get CCTV signs as if you go outside your property (even as the picture above) you need signs

Just make sure your legal on it and no issues/police questions arise.

I thought there was no right to privacy in a public place? I can take pics of anyone I want on the street, but if some intruder comes creeping onto my drive, I have to pass GDPR regs to film them?

1. Yes in loft, run cables to each camera done.
2. In any other room you dont want to backhaul 9 cables (8 Camera and 1 Network Cable) Its a fair chunky size and then to trunk it etc.

You only need 1 network lead from the NVR to the Main router/switch (not poe)
Then one from POE to Main Router/Switch.
Essentially they are all powered via one location and work peachy.

"If domestic CCTV covers an area beyond the boundary of the property then signage must be present."
That is when GDPR applies as it shows public areas.

If its ONLY showing your property (100% not over looking or even touching public footpaths etc or neighbours you'll get away with no signage)

But cover yourself put a sticker up, its easily then hidden on a weird door (so long as its displayed) they have no legal argument over it.

All fitted and need some tidying up.

I'm absolutely amazed with the quality to say how dark it was last night. I genuinely thought I'd fucked up and it was showing footage from earlier in the day.

Pic shows me taking a pic of outside and then 2 of the 4 cams showing how bright it is on their display

Just ordering a load of bits to tidy the wiring up now.

Looks like a nice bit of kit. What did you order again?
The quality is insane, i'm so so happy with the install!

I went for 1 x https://cliosport.net/threads/home-cctv-and-phone-apps-recommendations-please.809478/page-12

and 4 x https://eazycctv.co.uk/collections/hikvision-ip-turret-cameras/products/ds-2cd2387g2-lu-black-2-8mm

My only annoyance was the sound of the NVR, because the NVR is a 16 channel unit it has an additional cooling fan on the side which sounded like a hoover so last night i've swapped out the cooling board and the psu fan for a pair of Noctua's and now it's properly quiet.

Dead happy with it

Was just about to give a little update on the cams I got, along with the nvr and saw there were recent posts on here. Weird!

Anyway, still absolutely blown away with the quality of the cameras I got. I'm very glad I paid a bit more for something that I was totally happy with.

Setting up the nvr was a b**ch and I still need to play with thr settings for each cam which I'm sure I'll never get around to doing.

So far the notifications on the hik connect app are brilliant, properly nice to have them.

Just taken a pic now of what it's like outside and what the camera is seeing. f**king ace

That's crazy good! What cameras do you have again?

I'm debating fitting my old Reolink kit to the new house (still good but not that good!) And getting the matching reolink POE doorbell, or upgrading to something newer

Honestly blows my mind with how much you can see when it's obviously pitch blackoutside(apart from the little light that's on)

I know I posted it before but heres another from just now

So out of my front window, granted its blurry!

They were infrared, they were brilliant during the day, not great at night though.

Will take a look at the ones you've linked!

my cctv came in handy this morning when some none English scum came walking round my driveway looking in the skip for metal, they then had a look at my house. i was in the kitchen so went out to "greet" them

Does the ColorVue element require a light to be constantly on each camera during the night or only activates with movement?
I think you can have it activate with. Motion but I just have it on when it gets dark. It's quite a nice little security light and in my head acts as a bit of a deterrent.

You can just have it fully off here is the difference from just now

With black Friday on us I'm looking at changing out CCTV setup which I still haven't installed from the last house.

Currently have Reolink cameras and harddrive.

I'm going to pick up a eufy 2k doorbell and hub from Currys at £130.

Does anyone have the eufy 2c cameras? Amazon have a two camera set on sale at £140 currently?

Or the 2C-pro cameras on offer at £180 for the 2 camera set up

Did you buy either setup?

2C or 2C Pro?

I've recently replaced mine with these 2 and for the price of em no complaints! Just need to mess with the settings a bit cause it hammered it down other night and it recorded most of that 😂
I also roughly blacked out next doors garden because they're in and out walking dog late at night too so were setting it off

Personally I don't think that's a good idea blacking it out as it may be useful should someone jump over the fence and you catch their facial fearures from the side etc or you may catch someone lurking in there eying up your property etc.

Can't you draw a window on the screen where it detects that area only?

Yeah you're right tbh, it was just done on the first night and haven't changed it. The front one I have a line set on the edge of the drive, if someone walks along the path it detects as motion, and if they step onto the drive it detects as a person. Still records everything but come up a different colours so it's easier to go back to it.
I need to adjust sensitivity on both anyway

Going to order the Eufy 2C Pro 2 Cam Kit as with some code my brother has you get a bunch of Amazon vouchers so works out at £180.

Had 2 instances in the last few weeks where someone has left their dog poop in a bag on our front lawn so keen to find out who it is and post it back to them next time. Disgusting creatures.

Proper peasant behaviour that is. Some scrubber keeps dumping their dog poo bags in the ally next to my house too.
