Maintenance questions

172 mk2

1. Where are the front sill drainage holes?

2. Has anyone had their jacking points rebuilt? How much?

3. Has anyone had their suspension bushes replaced? How much? Not anti roll bar.

Where is the best place for a trolley jack, the jacking points or the underside behind them? My front jacking points are worn.

Sill drains are on the sill lip from memory.

Jack up on the inner most chassis rail/box section, the long one that goes front to back of the car. Its absolutely solid, if your jack wont reach upgrade to a long reach/low profile one with 100mm plate.

The drainage holes are at the front and back where the edges of the metal meet. If the sills are in good order they should be easy to find, if not you'll have to poke around a little with the pointy edge of a tie wrap or something stiffer. You'll know when you've found one as your pointy thing will go deep inside (ooh err, missus!)

Matt Cup has had his jacking points strengthened and they look good.

I've had all my suspension stuff redone except for the two main bushes on each wish bone. Even without these being done it has massively improved the feel of the car. It was done at Birchdown along with other jobs.

I bought this trolley jack from eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/187075779187
