where to look for oil leak?

  R35 GTR
There are no obvious signs, of a leak, as there was oil everywhere in engine bay from last leak.

Coolant looks sort of orange colour, is this normal? No creamy stuff on oil filler cap.

Just less than min oil in engine. Was changed around 2000 miles ago.

One more thing, oil was clear when new, but is now brown is this normal.lol.

Yep normal on the oil front goes black after time.

Coolent should be green but ti can chnage.

Do you know if engine was filled up at service fully?

On a 172 usualy check the cam cover ie under plehham. for oil the cam cover seals arn't wonderful.

Also check breaker pipes for cracks.

ok, will engine have been ok with so little oil in it? I will be topping up before it gets moved again.

It wasnt serviced, it had a total oil loss, so was full of oil after they repaired the parts.

Oright mate first of what clio and age is it, wouldnt worrie about the collient myne is a nasty brown colour, keep it topped up, i had a similar thing happen when i bouth my car the oiul level was high but after a while the level went right down and changed colour so i changed the oil and filter (not easy on Mk1 clios) but doabile. if the oil is brown did they change the filter as well or just the oil some garages cant be arsed to change the filter could be why its gotten dirty quickly.

Arr right now I remmber. Should be fine so long as there enough for the oil pump to still run did you sort out the issues it had though in the end?

I think i've got a leak out the back of the rocker cover, under the coil pack. Keeps dripping down to the exhaust manifold. Stinks for the first couple of mins of driving...til it burns off! Must be tiny though as its hardly moved on the dipstick. Get some gunk engine cleaner in there and keep an eye on it.
Good luck mate! I'm starting to get pissed off with mine now.

Thanks for all the help guys, at least the cliosport forum doesnt reflect the crappy clios.:D

Another thing is I can smell burning, maybe petrol from the oil filler cap.:(

If you've sprayed oil all over chances are some of it will land on hot surfaces. Might take a while to burn it all off.

Are you sure the rocker gasket hasn't gone? Best thing to do is clean off all the surplus oil and run if for abit to see if you can spot where it's coming from. Hubby had similar problem with his Megane Coupe. Smelt like it was burning oil too. It didn't appear to be leaking onto the road or anything, so at first it was hard to determine where it was coming from. Have you checked to see what the stae of the plugs are like?
