adjusting coilovers

hi guys, this is the first time ive tried to adjust my front dampers and i cant seem to adjust them at all. they are gaz(shite i know) and have been on the car for 2 years, i just want to soften them up. ive got the little tool to do it from the top of the strut but it dont seem to wana soften or harden???

also i have a query about the ride height. well the drivers side of the car always seems to be lower than the passengers side no matter how i adjust it. does it matter if one side of the car is around 2-4mm higher than the other??

nup i cant feel it click to be honest mate. there is some play in it but it still wont let me turn in either direction, wd-40 maybe??
