No pics but goes as so.
You will need the following:
2 litre bottles of dot 3 or 4 brake fluid,
An 8mm spanner with ring end,
A length of transparent narrow rubber tubing (approx 5mm width, similar to breather hose, to fit over bleed nipples)
A spray bottle
A mate or two!
The car in the air!
1. With car elevated (easier, but not too high as you will need to access the fluid resevoir), locate the bleed nipples on each brake caliper. These look like nice erect nipples so you shouldn't miss them!
These are usually protected with small rubber caps. Remove caps.
2. Remove resevoir lid and then with an empty spray bottle and nozzle, suck up all of the fluid into the bottle using the spray. Alternatively if you have access to an air line and a special brake fluid vaccum bottle, use this to suck the fluid out.
Then fill back to the brim with new fluid. A funnel is a good idea, as spillage is not good!
3. Go to the furthest caliper from the fluid reservoir (nearside rear) and place the ring end of the spanner over the nipple at the base, allowing room to undo by about a 1/4 turn. Then place rubber tubing over the nipple and other end into a collecting bottle.
4. Now undo the nipple by a 1/4 turn with a friend pumping the brake pedal (careful if nipple is tight. Breaking it will result in a new caliper being needed!) and drain approx HALF of the reservoir of new fluid out thru the nipple.
DO NOT ALLOW RESERVOIR TO EMPTY.
Top up reservoir back to top and repeat process until half empty again.
Once done, tighten up bleed nipple WHILST PEDAL IS STILL BEING PUMPED and remove tubing and spanner.
5. Now repeat this process on the other rear wheel and then the nearside front, finishing with the offside (drivers side) front.
As this wheel is directly under the reservoir it will empty faster than the others so be sure to keep an eye on the fluid level. DO NOT allow it to empty.
6. Once finished you should have used about a litre of new fluid (or 1 bottle) and the reservoir then needs to be topped up back to the MAX line with fluid from the other unused bottle. DO NOT reuse the fluid drained out....its easily done!
Replace cap.
7. Make sure all the bleed nipples are done up (but not over tight) and the rubber caps are back on. Give the pedal a pump, making sure it goes hard and doesn't go to the floor, and check the fluid level a final time.
Et voila....i think.
If you are using the air line and vaccum method, no pumping is required as the fluid will be drawn out not pushed.
Hope this helps!
