172 Problems - Will it affect MOT?

  Turbos.
I had my cracked CAT swapped today, but to my dismay the engine management light was still on. I took it to Sanspeed who diagnosed a faulty MAP sensor and brake pedal sensor (wtf!).

How major are these troubles and with the engine light on will that be affecting my emissions for my MOT on Monday?

I guess i should ask if they are expensive fixes too..? :(

I was worried about the engine management light too when my 172 went for it's MOT....came on a while after fitting a sports cat:(

I had no problems with the emissions though....I think you have to get it plugged into a diagnostic/clip machine to get the fault cleared, have no idea how much it costs.

Have you still got the light on Neil or did you get it cleared on the Clip?

I have a k-tec stealth but i wouldn't think that would be enough to trigger the MAP sensor in the first place, so am wondering if thhre is anything else that could cause it...i'm not really sure what the sensor does, i thought it was something along the lines of telling the ECU to adjust fueling or air.

Map sensors can fail there on the intake plebham (the bit with Renault sport written on) on the drivers side of the big bit not the intake runner on the passenger side as thats the air temp one.

Not cheap to replace £60 or so I think. BenR or a breakers yard might be your best bet.

Depending how bad the sensor is depends if you'll fail.

Lol. My airbag light has been on for about 6 months too, at least i can't fall asleep at the wheel. And if i did, i'd be dead.
