Have i fu*ked it????

M

Rite my 1.2's on springs and handled like a dream for my first few months of ownership then on new years eve i hit a kerb in town at a dodgey angle (dont ask how i managed it), i couldnt of been doing anymore than 20 -25mph :San it hit ma wheels all out off alinement so that the steering wheel was tilted half way to drive straight.

So anyway found out i had bent the wishbone on the suspension and that had come back and creased the subframe so ma car was abitty f*cked! Got a second hand subframe thou and had it fitted wi another wishbone, droplink, balljoint then got it bck from the garage but ever since then my steering and handling aint the same! IT seems to understeer pretty badly now on corners and the steering isnt as responsive as b4 u have to move the steering wheel bout 30 degrees before the wheels start 2 turn, where as b4 they wud turn wi like 2 degrees of 'turnage'. I feel i dont hav confidence in my car through bends now. so please help.....

Cant afford coilies 4 it, mite get dampers thou but dont feel i should need to as it handled great before wen it was just dropped on spprings. Could it just be something isn't tightened up right? Subframe loose?

It's not the weather:S and wet roads btw as it was wet and horrible weather here in scotland before New year as wel as after!

I'd go with what Dave said first of all and make sure everythings straight.
The steering problem sounds like the rack though.
Where did you get the 2nd hand subframe? Was it definetly ok as most i've seen in scrappy have taken some sort on impact or was it a firedamaged car etc?

Get the tracking checked first as sounds like its not been done right.

Subframes are fotne damages hence why ones from a scrappie can be useless often.

Sounds wherver you took it didn't do a very throught job I'd get the wheel off have a look round might have bent somethign esle ie stearing arm etc.
