200 bhp clio

  RS RIP
Ben R from Angelworks has a new goody coming up end this month which everyone here is looking out for, watch out for this one maybe ?

MCG

  Vauxhall Astra VXR
New exhaust, panel filter/induction kit, decat, re-worked inlet manifold, cams, remap, thats the only way unless you get throttle bodies.

  E92 M3 Monte Carlo
why is everyone so bothered about it been 200bhp would you be gutted if it only made 199bhp,i've been in a 200bhp clio and it was lifeless upto 5k+ due to the cam profile, i'd rather have a nice driveable car that pulls when from low down

  VW Golf TDI

buy the latest issue of french car mag and there clio made 228bhp iirc thats with throttle bodies, cat cams, remap, full exhaust an decat would cost more than the car to achieve though in most cases!!!

No brain and about 3k.

Get a faster car.

This is the real truth and that minus the hassle involved of getting it just right ect.

Dont waist your money.

it's also the advice of someone that has no fookin' clue what they are talking about... like most on this site. where does the £3k figure come from? It's half that, less if you fit the parts yourself. Also a cam and ECU remap will not have any issues as it's too basic to really go wrong, unless you're really unlucky (or the parts are from Kent!). So thank you for this invaluable information :clown:

Is it?? im speaking from experience, the experience it cost me to get to 200 bhp with all the hassle of getting the car spot on along the way. Its taken over a year to get it running right.

''IMO'' it is a waist of money. 3k for arguments sake can buy you a car that will piss on any
172 Clio!!

Rough guess of the cost of a pretty much ''guaranteed'' 200bhp Clio

Headwork 600
Cams 600
Inlet work 150
remap 300
exhaust 330
decat 150
182 manifold 200

Labour costs plus travelling expenses plus the replacment of unsatisfactory parts a easy 600

The thing is no rolling road is 100% accurate, "power runs" on a rolling road day are pointless

"ohh my car has 190bhp" erm no it doesn't, that what the machine says

Rolling roads and power figures and claims i don't listen too unless the car is measured on a rolling road BEFORE (when standard) any work is done

you can't just through £2K at a car and then say it has 200bhp, no

you can however (in my book) power run it before, then throw £2K at it and then power run it afterwards on the same RR and walk about as happay as larry, "oh look at me i gained x amount"

Exactly plus no two cars are the same. One car might need 1.5k spent on it to get to 200, another might need 3.5.

Its impossible to pigeon hole a car as there's a million and one factors to think about.

I bought a rover on the cheap with a HG failure as a second car. Went on a rover forum and got told it could cost as little as 50 quid to fix !! Bollox !! ended up costing me over 200 by the time id pissed about with other things that were all connected with it.

Its piss easy to quote a minimum figure. Thats never the real figure in the ''real world''

your experience differs from most, there's always worser case scenarios, but 9 times out of 10 cams get you to 200+bhp with a remap. Forget inlet work, headwork etc etc, you dont need to do all that to get to that figure.

cams, exhaust, remap, decat.
RR's are not always 100% accurate, but come on, you're making out like they can over or under read by 100bhp, they are usually a few bhp out at most... obviously you get bad RR ops, but most people on here who have these 200+bhp packages have had their cars RR'd at several different RR places.
