Tbh you ought to see it in the day light (in case it's had paint etc)
Apart from the usual stuff....
Check that its got a stack of history & bills with it, check that most of the work has been done on it, maybe the clutch & that sort of stuff, check that the cam belts been done as well - as I put last night, i think it ought to have been done twice because of the cars age.

Check the rear arches are solid, i.e no rot, rust or filler - as they do tend to rot (they go from the inside outwards) Check the edge of the bootlid for rust when you open the boot (the bit around the boot lock)
Check incase the power steering pump makes noise on full lock (most of them do, check the pas fluid as they often leak)
Check that all the electrics are ok on it & that the heater works - if it doesn't work then it'll prob have a blocked matrix, which is a pain & can be expensive ! Check it works on all speeds too.
I think that thats about it really.

Check that all of the dials (the extra three for oil temp etc) are reading asthey should, the one which tells you the oil level should be at the level when cold then drop to 0 shortly after. Check that the oil pressure is good - it will drop on idle & should remain solid while driving. Check the oil in the car too, as guages aren't to be relied upon, look out for the signs of mayo on the filler cap etc.

It's a shame your not closer to me really, as i'd have offered to come & view it with you.
