air con... safe to degass yourself??

Is it safe/evironmentally friendly to let the gas out of the air con? I want to take my air con radiator out as its bent like a banana after a stone hit it at 60mph.

i've pulled a few systems off clios before, never really played with them as such

i don't want much for it mate, its no use to me!

release of any refrigerant into atmosphere is illegal - ozone pollutant, nasty stuff, also the filling or de gassing of a system is trained personell, - but like most other things, out of site out of mind u decide

as above, it is easy to degass but also illegal to release the refrigerant

regassing is expensive but needs to be done by a pro

If your caught you could get a hefty fine, only a quick job to de-gas the aircon system though.

one way of de-gassing it if you are replacing the condensor/radiator would be to 'accidently' pierce it
