anyone got a dell d620

just had one of our users come in wanting something installed so just connected it to the lan via rj45 and what do you know the lan card isnt reported under the os i check bios and its enabled but still not reported anyone else had this

What can you see in device manager?

you should see a broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit controller if it's not shown then I would say the card/motherboard are faulty, have had a few go here, suggest you contact Dell support as it may also be a M/board swap out

ah well they are replacing the motherboard and funny enough just after putting phone down i restarted it again and voila the nic appeard again lol

Not common but they do go every now and again, I order around 500 or Dell L/tops per year and on the whole they are very good so don't worry too much.

oh i know usually they have been good well previous generations have been but this was the first 620 we had new hardware = new faults

Not had this problem and we've bought half a dozen recently.

Same here 620 pretty good units, just gotta make sure you enable the second core if you're using 2000, although XP picks up on it standard.

No problems with ours, apart from making an image for one was a swine!

Do ya mean the gx 620s ? We've just installed 1100+ into our place, over the space of a few months. We only had about 4 DOAs but since then had about another 4 or 5 go. Not bad going really

Nah GX are Optiplex systems, we use 620's currently too.

These are laptops mate, Latitude 620.
