FAO Tom & other 3G/symbian skypers

How much bandwidth does skype take:

1) On standby

2) During a call

I'm just trying to work out costs of running it on 3G in various tariffs.

Ta,

Oms.

Standby 40-50mb a day

During a call about .5mb/min

Its not economical, and three's x tarrifs dont use skype as we know it.

Im using webandwalk pro.
(which is not supposed to be used for VOIP use)

Cheers for the info Tom.

Three's x tariffs now include skype... and the E65, yay!

I'm most likely to use it at home on WIFI, but as a 3 x-series phone I could use it any time potentially.

Hmm... on 3 it'll cost £40 a month (including x series) plus £50 for the handset. Voda will charge me £17.50 (first 10 months) for the same minutes/texts, plus a free handset...

OH, PS: Web 'n' walk... is that a T mobile tariff?

Yeah.

You cant use the 3 skype with wifi.
But you can use the built in VOIP with skype settings over wifi.

E65 supports SIP

You need to use skype to sip software.

Give it a google, as i know very little about SIP.

Sorry to thread hijack OMS

I just got a W880i and it would be ideal for using the net via my Laptop when onsite with customers who dont have the net etc? Whats it cost a month for Web&Walk
