How stiff is your....................clutch pedal

  FF Blackgold 182
Mate of mine drove my '04 182 the other week and he said he thought that the clutch pedal was really heavy. I don't really notice it, but I suppose I'm a big bloke, so what is heavy for him might not be heavy or noticeable for me. He suggested I get it looked at anyway. Any thoughts? I did test drive a different one a few months before I bought mine, but it was so long ago, I can't remember. Cheers all in advance.:)

It is heavy, when you get back in a "normal" car it will feel like your kicking the floor.

No can do Paul, unfortunately. Gutted I'm gonna miss it because the last one was such a laugh!! I'm going to Brands to see the BTCC, so it ain't all bad. Not going in the 182 though. I'm gonna be at Castle Combe for that action day in a few weeks time though. IIRC you're going to that, yeah?

My dad said he thought it was heavy too. Then again he dries a Zafira and the clutch on that may as well be attached to rubber bands. Lol:rasp:

  M2 Competition
I found the 172 cup clutch to be loads heavier than the 182 one. Could be it being a few years older etc though.

But aye, having driven other cars, the RS' do have very stiff clutches in comparison.

Your clutch cable could need changing as they're sh!t. I've had 2, and a new clutch.

I was thinking that. I will have it looked at. Is there much difference between the standard Renault clutch and an uprated one, both in price and performance? If there isn't I may consider it, if it needs replacing that is.

Cheers for all the advice everyone!!:approve:

Alot of people think they are heavy because most newer cars now have hydraulic clutch! i believe that all mk2 clio's are still cable! when i drive another car now i am usually stamping on the floor! :|

  Lots of Alfas
Coming from driving my gf's Suzuki Jimny (hydraulic everything) for a while to my 172 feels like driving a Sherman Tank at first until you get used to it again.

You got to be joking! the 172 is light compared to R5GTT no sh!t
On the 5 a cable would break after about 16 - 18 months I know this because I owned two 5s for over 16 years .There was a clutch arm conversion available using the 440 Volvo clutch arm which was longer than the 5s which had an effect by giving you a lighter pedal pressure.
