172 cambelt changed now has ticking!

i just had my timing belt changed today on my 172 and when i have drove it home there is a loud ticking! when i sit with it idleing the ticking isnt so bad but when diving going past other cars you can hear it quite clearly what could it be? is this normal just after a change? cheers airs

i would get it back to however changed it for you asap. Highly unlikely that its a coincedence since you had the belt done today. The longer you leave it the worse its likely to get and harder it will be to make them take responsibilty (assuming you had it done at a garage)

well he is a specialist in newcastle and all he does is renaults. i trust him with my car and have known him for a few years now. he is closed over the weekend do you think i should risk driving it? is has had all new pulleys and tensioners with new bearings so it could be 1 of those but i dont know! i know if there is something worng that he will fix it.

Don't drive it mate. It could be a faulty tensioner or even just an over tensioned AUX belt but not worth the risk

i drove my 1.4 when the cambelt was on wrong, there was a loss of power and a ticking, thankfully i did about 2 miles and took it back, a few hours later the mechanic brought it back, it was fine.

yeh i think that is what i am going to do like because i only had the car a month and dont wana break it already. only paid 3500 for it like but still alot of debt for me. so all in all it should be kept off the road until i can get back to him?

Yes, defo mate, dont drive it, get the garage to low load it back to there garage.

check there arent any stones wedged in the tyre tread.
