I can smell exhaust in car....

I had a sparkplug spit itself out...

That resulted in exhaust fumes being forced out from the top of the cylinder, as well as some unburnt fuel.

Do you have a tappety sound at idle?

dont know, not had the car long enough to get used to its noises. I am hearing new different ones every day.

Dave how is the crank case vented? Have you got any decent photo's of your engine bay?

it could jus b a hole in your exhaust or a bracket could b loose.

A few of us on the forum have had it happen. The plug on Cylinder 3 just works itself loose...

...the tappety sound can be heard outside the car, resulting from the above.


I'm assuming Dave is running a 2.0 clio (F4R)?

Have you got a CAT? I would guess it's a leaking exhaust from the CAT join myself.
