  Lux'd Glacier White R26
Awesome...Hopefully whoever buys it will cherish it, and not load silly amounts of miles on it!

Mine is getting a bit knackered and the mileage is high, maybe I should get it and start all over again. lol

who cares though, it's just a 182 with nicer seats and suspension, but only comes in one colour (and not really a desirable one either). If it was a Williams 1 I could understand not driving it as much... to a degree, but if anything a Trophy should have s**t loads more miles, it's a drivers car... apparently...

Lee has the right idea

I dont get it why people dont like red. I think its cos they think its going to fade like old cars did, but its one of my 1st choice colour for nearly any car i think. i loved my zetec s red, but people only moaned about it when i was trying to sell.

Well lets engage our brains here a bit Tom... Valvers, loads were made correct? All come with 1.8 peaky no torque engines... Williams has completely different seats and interior, completely re worked suspension and a 2.0 bottom end and re-worked head helping create an engine that has low down torque of an 8v car and 16v power up top... The basic shell and dash board layout is the only similar thing, they drive nothing like in terms of handling or power delivery and are a completely different car...

now, lets look at a Trophy... it has suspension that's not actually proven as being any better in any circumstance as yet and was actually slower round track than a cup and it comes with 2 nice front Recaro's... what else? 2.2 engine with better power delivery, or even just a bit more power? No such luck...

Not actually proven by whom?

didn't Top Gear put it round the track and it was slower? Either them or a big magazine did anyway for deffo. Put a stock valver and Williams round a track even both with 1.8 or 2.0 engines and the Williams would pan it based on the far superior setup... having owned and driven both a Williams and Valver the handling while good on the valver isn't in the same league. I think the Trophy is a cool car, but I think people get a little bit excited over what's basically the same as any other 182... in fact cant you get the Trophy seats spec'd into a new 182 at the time?

Yes you can, but i think your description "just a 182 with nicer seats and suspension" is a little harsh. And im certainly not knocking a williams its a fantastic car. (that would be a little
hipacritical)

Evo put them round Bedford i think and found the Cup quicker... however Harry Metcalfe posted up on cliotrophy this :

i'll try and shed some light on why the Trophy appears slower than a Cup in this month's Fast Club feature;

First off it was an extremely cold day when we did the lapping so that was part of the reason why the Trophy went slower as cold tarmac and coldish tyres isn't the best combination for fast times.
Overlaying the data of the two laps in the office we can see the Trophy was better at putting its power down out of the corners but slightly worse on the brakes. Again, cold tarmac could be the reason, or perhaps the stiffer springs on the Trophy don't allow as much weight transfer to the front tyres so the brakes don't work quite as well.

The big difference was through the Pif-Paf chicane where the Trophy arrives 4.5mph faster than the Cup (around a second quicker too) but its speed through the slowest part of the chicane was 8.5mph lower than the Cup. The Trophy's lap time never recovers the time lost at this point, although it did make up a lot of ground at the finish to end up 0.6secs behind.
To us it looks as if the driver (different drivers as well to further complicate matters) ) in the Cup dramatically cut the corner (which is only marked with cones) as being 8.5mph faster at this point is too big a difference to explain otherwise, hence the slower time for the Trophy in the article.

This is why it's always tricky comparing lap times set 6 months apart this these were.
Re-match needed.

okay, fair point, it's not 'just' a 182 with nicer seats and suspension, it has the unique colour and wheel styling, but if anyone has any reviews where performance is measured against a Cup packed 182 I'd be interested to find out if anyone places it quicker... as that's what it was intended for, or at least that's the impression given from all the marketing hype it got... good cars, just over priced from marketing hype and not dissimilar enough to catagorically say it's faster/better etc etc. Therefore only justification on the price is that it's slightly more unique and has the suspension that you cant buy for other Clio's, but it's not even necessarily better anyway is it?

Also interesting reading the bit about the lap time, but either way it still sounds like it's on a performance par it's fair to say?

Lee - oh yes ;)

Am I right is saying that the comparison was done with a Cupped 182 and not a proper cup;)

  182 Trophy #274
this was the one in the competion from memory. Must have about 3 owners by now - I know it was for sale at the end of last year also.

fairly sure it's on the clio trophy register.

Basically, 182 cup pick of hot hatches, Trophy moves the bar higher.

Part 1 Real World, Trophy against a lot of hot cars, 12 in test.

Finishes 1st.

Part 2, Surreal World, Trophy against the kind of cars you would buy if you won the lottery, 10 in test.

Finishes 3rd, behind ferrari 430 & ford gt.

Jury of 8 drivers in total.

Good read ;)

http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/viewt...rder=asc&highlight=trophy+quicker+cup&start=0

there's a few unbiased and honest comments in there....

so really the general rule of thumb is that they are the same performance wise. Where the Trophy lost out in one bend it made it up slightly in others and put the power down better (or it being a colder day the car was just faster that day too?).

I'd certainly have one over a 182 given the choice, but if I was actually paying my own money I'd want more tbh. It should have had a 2.2 engine and coilovers instead imo.
