Clio Breakdown Cover/Roadside Assistance

I'm doing a lot more miles in my Clio recently and with no cover I reckon I'm pushing my luck before I'm screwed.

Can anyone with a Clio who does not have Renault Assist recommend anyone?

Not bothered about home start, not getting into the office would be a bonus ;)

Well AA were crap, when it came to recovering my clio. It took them nearly 24hrs to get the clio, onto a low loader, and transport it 2 miles to the Reno dealership.

You could try Greenflag for your clio? Never used them, RAC were pretty good, but that was before I had a clio.

That was with another manufacturer. Or Marque.

AA have been fine for me on the 2 occasions i needed them , once to jump start me and once to tow me home .Arrived within 30 mins each time .Maybe i was just lucky??

ive never had a problem with the AA... had to call them out several times, but only once for the old clio to jump start me. They arrived within 20 minutes on all occasions.

I'm with Norwich Union, who use Green Flag from what I remember. Covers the car i'm in, not just my car (rest the same?)

AA have been alright to me, they could be better though. Although the 2 times i phoned them up when they said they would be about an hour and half i told them that the Police had said they need me moved ASAP as i was blocking the road. They come so much quicker lol!

Which company covers your car if you have a flat tyre but no spare OR foam?

I need one of them!

RAC all the way they have many more patrols than the aa, also the aa recovery drivers dont work nights anymore (apart from the odd couple) they have also reduced the amount of vans on patroll at any one time as their member numbers have dropped and therefore they get less call outs and need less vans.

RAC but im v biased ;) btw RAC dont own NU, we're both owned by the same company (Aviva).

Id say RAC or AA, wouldn't touch the others (too many hidden costs and exclusion clauses), but then RAC would come out even in an accident/driver error. AA can and often do refuse service (heard some pretty shocking horrer stories) as this is excluded in their T&Cs.

Also AA were bought by 2 private equity firms in 2004 who's only interest is stripping the company for profit and benefit of shareholders (hence 5000 job cuts).

So even though im biased its a bit of a no-brainer :p

Anyone used rescuemycar.com? it came up on moneysupermarket. Do the RAC do european cover as well? I've got a short trip to france coming up and think it might be wise to invest.

Yup we do cover for short trips eg 1 day up to 180 days at a time. Or yearly cover so you can travel as many times as you want during those 12 months.
