Tyres

  172 MKII FF
Hi,

Might seem like a silly question, but how do I determine if the tread on my tyres has worn past the recommended level to change them. They look a little worn on the edges but the tread looks fine in the middle and towards the edges. I'm a little concerned because my MOT is due next Friday.

There wear marked on the tread patern when the tyres is at the same height as the wear mrkers that the legal depth you can run at.

The law is that it has to have that minimm depth of that accross 75% of the tyres width. sk at a garage before MOT and ask them if its ok for the MOT they'll tell you for free.

Thanks. I'm going having my exhaust tightened up tomorrow and a new manifold to cat kit put on so I will get them to check them, also got to get my ball joint checked. Anything I should ask while just generally chatting to them (free information).

Yeah I phoned Renault Oldham up today and they quoted me just shy of £61. I had a service done at RS Tuning a couple of months back and they said the offside wasn't in ideal condition. But when I took it to the garage that fitted my exhaust last week they said there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it - but the steering lock was on. So, i'll get them to re-check it tomorrow.

When I had my 48k service done with RS Tuning, will they have replaced brake pads etc?

Guy checked out the ball joint on my car and shook it like mad............he said there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'm confused now, because i'm getting two conflicting diagnosis.
