Left hand main beam bulb holder

  Partner's Astra SRi
Hi,

I'm having a problem with me Left hand side main beam headlight. I'm not sure if there's a difference between my normal Clio and the sport ones but really need some help. It had been fine until I took it to a Renault garage.

I took my Clio to a Renault garage Crossroads in Southmoor back in June for a check over because it wasn't starting first time. They completely ripped me off, saying that water was getting in the fuse box and that they'd waterproofed it. Cost me £116 for them to do that.

Next day....sitting in traffic in Abingdon trying to get to work and my engine overheats. Had to get a breakdown recovery vehicle to rescue me. He looked under the bonnet and asked if I'd had any work done resently. So I told him what Crossroads had said they'd done. He took the cover off the fuse box and the waterproofing that cost me £116 was a bit of bubble wrap round the fuses and held in place by black tape.

Anyway, got towed back to Crossraods and I went mental at them for charging me £116 for a bit of bubble wrap and tape. So they fixed it again "free of charge". Too right they did it free of charge!!!

So, after all that, two days later my left main beam bulb blew. My fiance bought me some new bulbs and we put them in and they work fine. But three weeks later the bulb holder on the left hand side came loose and we can't get it back in. Is there a nack to doing it? We did notice that the left hand side holder was slightly different to the right hand side. The bent pins on the side on the left hand side have been flattened out. Could that be why we can't get it back in?

Sorry for the essay before hand but I think Crossroads b*ggered my car to be completely honest. They told me I had to have 3 major works done to it which they quote nearly £700 pounds for them to do. I took it to a private garage in my village and they fixed one of the three problems and it cost £85 (needed two anti-roll bar bushes replacing). I noticed also that Crossroads had broken on of the clips that hold the engine cover in place so I've now removed that as it had slipped down which could've been interesting!!

In any case, I'm not taking it back to Crossroads. My Clio came from Bridges in Newbury so I might make a trip down there next time I want to take it to Renault.
