Radiator prices

Hi,

I've had a fault diagnosed on my car today, it turned out to be a leak in the radiator. I was told the price of the part from this garage was going to be £160 + VAT. So just as a matter of interest I checked with Renault how much the radiator was for my 172 - they replied with £96 + VAT plus a £35 discount for my old radiator.

How can an independant garage be so much more expensive than a dealership? I was always under the impression that dealerships were always more expensive.

I spoke to the guy at the garage and asked how there was such a difference between the prices and he just said he got his price from his supplier.

hey i had to get my radiator replaced no so long ago and done it all myself. i got mine from a company near me and paid only 75 all in. if you look about somthing like eurocarparts they might do a 1 bit cheaper for you mate.

When you say all in, you mean including VAT?

Peope rearly check Renault prices thinking they'll be more expensive that copy cat parts and it costs them.

yeah that is includin vat and everything mate so i was canny happy with it and had no fault since.

Too late for me now, i've ordered it off Renault. Will get it fitted tomorrow, is it a difficult job to fit it? The mechanic said it is probably going to cost in the region of £40 - £60 plus de-icer.

Type D Renault coolent you need I forget how much its here* its £20ish for 5 liters I think which should be enough.

Not to difficult to do just takes a bit front bumper off.


* Renault recomended fluids/amounts/grades to be used.
