Well the only reason i downloaded the lastest version, was due to the fact that i didn't have any form of itunes on my HP windows laptop, and my i mac runs mac OS 10.3.9, not 10.4.10.

dK what itunes are you running?

I have the latest version of iTunes (7.5) and the latest firmware for the iPod Touch and it works fine on my vista machines.

I would try uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, sounds like somethings got a little screwed up.

My ipod (1st gen Nano) wouldn't pick up through vista and latest itunes on my laptop. Unplugged the USB a few times and put it back in, worked fine after..... :S

I've now uninstalled it reinstalled it, at least 5 times, and still no luck :dapprove:

Ok, have you tried restarting the iPod service?

Also when you have been uninstalling, have you been uninstalling all the other Apple components, such as Quicktime and the Apple update software plus the Apple mobile device support. If not I would try this again but doing all of these aswell.

I also presume that the USB port being used is working fine when something is plugged in, especially with any other devices such as a storage device, usb key / hdd? Just to eliminate that.

Yes mate i have been uninstalling all the other Apple components each time.
I've also tried all of my USB ports, and have checked that they are all work.

Hopefully going to pop into my nearest Apple store tomorrow and see if they have any ideas.

Hmm, Fair enough.

Other than trying it on another PC probably best to take it to the apple store like you say and see what they've got to say. Best of luck :)
