Mac... How much is it worth..

Okay, been offered a mac. spec is as follows.

iMac 17" 1.9GHZ - 512MB RAM - 160GB HD - COMBO/AP.....Built in ISightcamera with iChat AV.

It has its box, manuals and is only a few months old. mint condition.

What do you Mac boys think its worth?

i think the guy wants about 400, there is literally nothing on the computer, he bought it, and never used it, there is about 10 songs on it. LOL

Worth the money?

I have a high spec PC, but, as a graphics designer I was thinking of getting one ready to get used to, plus, would look cool in my room.

Yes, i have 2.

Its a decent machine, but its not intel so it will date very quickly.
Newer intel imac's arent much more and are way way quicker.

If it's only a couple of months old is it not the previous gen 17" with the 1.83GHz Intel C2D chipset? If the pic is of the same model then I think it will be.

just checked with the chap, yes its the 1.83ghz intel chipset.

is that better?? worth more money??

Yeah that's worth more. If he's looking for £400 then it's a good purchase.

Yeah definitely more RAM, 2gb minimum if you want to run Photoshop etc with acceptable results.

Unscrew the hatch on the underside of the casing and swap the chips over. Very easy.

Buy some ram make it 2gb and your done, i have the one before that (without the camera built in) and is fine, infact i cant really notice the difference between mine and the intel.

Not really anymore.. the whole Mac is good for design is a myth.

At the end of the day, it's just a PC running OSX... Heh.
