GEARBOX PROBLEM - 172 pH2 2002 50k miles

Hi all,

Only had the car 4 weeks and has been fine until last week, If I drive the car first thing in the morning when it is very cold, changing gears is fine but after about 30 mins the change gets tougher and tougher to move the gear stick and the stick doesn't locate back to centre under 3rd gear, so if I waggle the stick in neutral when it's cold it's ok and it flicks back to under 3rd but once I've been driving 30 or more mins when I waggle the stick in neutral it doesn't locate back to under 3rd, it just stays on the left or the right depending on where you leave it.
It doesn't baulk going into any of the gears and there are no grinding noises.
It does have one of those B&M short shift gear stick attached to it.
I have spoken to a few companies and got some prices on re-con gear boxes.
Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be?
Cheers,

Thanks bud, sorry forgot to mention that KTEC replaced all Gearbox oil this morning but it's still doing it.

linkage problem? i wouldnt havent said gearbox that would be the last thing on my mind
Ok, I haven't a clue about Gearboxes and linkages, I think I'll go have a search and find out how a gearbox works.
Ktec should know surely and they didn't mention linkage, not that i'm ruleing out what you are saying.

Try getting rid of the B & M - there crap and dont help gear change at all. Fit a standard gear shifter that should cure the problem

I didn't fit the b&m, it's been on the car for 3 years, you really think that's the problem or you just saying that because you don't like the product?

I'm not convinced when looking at the design of the B&M how it can be the problem, it's just a piece of metal, why would that heating up cause problem with shifting, I do think it would be prudent to take the short shift off and see if it still has the problem.
